With a restaurant name called Guy la Patate, you would hope it would be good fries!
Definitely the best poutine in the south shore of Montreal. Great sauce, nice melted cheese curds and the most important hand cut french fries. Worth a stop when you want that poutine fix and don't want some "franchise poutine". -

I'm from the Toronto area, and I visit the South Shore and Montreal frequently. I've had poutine at some of the places in Montreal that get a lot of attention on social media a few times. I've also had the sub-par poutines in Toronto.
Guy La Patate is by far my favourite place to have poutine, anywhere. The gravy/sauce is on another level. Fries are crispy on the outside and have the perfect colour. They're soft and fluffy on the inside. The cheese curds are massive and more than pass the squeakiness test. When you're in this place, you see people who probably live in the area and come here frequently. They know what's up. Let the drunk hipsters and tourists have the places downtown that I was mentioning. If you want that real shit, you need to try this place.
Throw the artisanal sandwich you're eating in the trash where it belongs, and come to Guy La Patate for a vastly superior experience that will change your outlook on life (probably for the better). -

Guy la Patate, how I love saying that name!
This place is located on a strange strip of Grande Allee Boulevard and has existed as a fast-food joint for many years. I decided to take the plunge and try it out the other day and I wasn't disappointed.
Like you might expect from a sort-of-dicey fast-food joint, this place serves up some nice greasy eats. We ordered a jumbo poutine, which had the largest pieces of cheese I've ever seen on a poutine! It was pretty darn good. The hot dogs are your standard fare, and I just had to try the burgers when I saw that they were served on some funny looking bread. The burger was definitely different from what I was expecting. The home-made patty was pretty decent, but the fixings were unique. Inside the flat-topped sesame seed buns was a layer of relish, onions, and... saurkraut! It was a tasty experience, and I'd order it again, although the burger could benefit from the juiciness of a tomato slice.
Beware though, as you'll end up smelling like a ball of grease once you leave the place... but it just might be worth it.
